Questioning the Messages We’ve Been Given

Many of the struggles we face aren’t just personal—they’re cultural. We live in a world that constantly tells us who we should be, how we should feel, and what success, love, and happiness should look like. These messages shape our identity, our relationships, and even our self-worth—often in ways we don’t fully recognize.

In therapy, I encourage clients to step back and question the narratives they’ve absorbed. Which beliefs support your growth? Which ones hold you back? Together, we examine the influences that no longer serve you and create space for you to define life on your own terms.

Practicing Within My Scope of Training

While I work with a range of concerns related to personal growth, relationships, and life transitions, there are certain specialized areas that I am not currently able to support:

  • Complex trauma requiring specialized treatment (e.g., EMDR, prolonged exposure therapy)
  • Severe or unmanaged personality disorders (e.g. borderline personality disorder with high crisis needs, antisocial personality disorder)
  • Psychotic disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, active delusions or hallucinations)
  • Severe mood disorders requiring intensive care (e.g., bipolar disorder with psychotic features, treatment-resistant depression)
  • Dissociative disorders (e.g., dissociative identity disorder, severe dissociative amnesia)
  • Severe eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa with medical complications)
  • Substance use disorders requiring detox or inpatient treatment
  • Neurocognitive or intellectual disabilities requiring specialized support
  • Therapy required as part of legal proceedings (e.g., court-mandated therapy, probation requirements)

If your needs fall outside my scope of practice, I would be happy to discuss referral options to professionals who specialize in these areas.
